Two useful products share this city pair. Eurostar (the former Thalys path) is about 1h 50m direct from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Midi, typically via Rotterdam. NS Intercity international via Antwerp is slower — around 2h 10m on this page — and is often the cheaper walk-up-style option.
All international arrivals quoted here finish at Brussels Midi (Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid), not Brussels-Central or Brussels-Nord. From Midi it is a short metro or tram ride into the centre; mixing up the three Brussels stations is the usual first-timer mistake this FAQ already flags.

The Eurostar (formerly Thalys) takes about 1h 50m direct from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Midi, stopping at Rotterdam. NS Intercity international via Antwerp takes around 2h 10m.
The NS Intercity direct (via Antwerp) is often cheaper, from around €19 standard class. The Eurostar high-speed service costs more (~€39) but is faster. Interrail pass holders can travel the NS service for free (no reservation needed).
