Here is the full 2026 timetable, what every cabin class costs, how Interrail works on the route, and exactly how to book.

Why this route matters in 2026

For decades the Paris–Berlin sleeper was a staple of European overland travel — then it vanished. European Sleeper's return fills one of the biggest gaps in the night-train map: a direct link between France and Germany's capitals without flying. Combined with the operator's existing Brussels–Berlin/Prague service, Brussels and Berlin are now connected by sleeper on six nights a week.

The train also slots neatly into wider trips. Pair it with Eurostar from London → Paris, or continue east from Berlin on Berlin → Prague or Berlin → Munich. Our Grand Night-Train Loop itinerary uses this exact leg.

Cabin classes and prices

European Sleeper uses four fare bands. All prices are dynamic (like flights) — book early for the lowest fares.

ClassWhat you getFrom (one-way)
BudgetReclining seat in open coach≈ €39.99
ClassicShared couchette (4–6 berths), sheets & blanket≈ €59.99
Comfort StandardPrivate couchette (1–3 beds), mattress & breakfast≈ €99.99
Comfort PlusProper bed, washbasin, duvet & breakfast≈ €129.99

For most travellers the Classic couchette is the sweet spot: you actually sleep, and at €60–80 it often beats a hotel plus a daytime train. Comfort Plus is worth it for couples or anyone who wants privacy.

How to book — step by step

  1. Pick your direction and date. Remember: Paris→Berlin runs Tue/Thu/Sun; Berlin→Paris runs Mon/Wed/Fri.
  2. Go to europeansleeper.eu. This is the only official sales channel — tickets are not on SNCF Connect or DB.
  3. Select ES 475 (Paris–Berlin) or ES 474 (Berlin–Paris).
  4. Choose your cabin class and enter passenger details.
  5. Pay and download your ticket. Arrive at Paris Nord or Berlin Hbf about 20 minutes before departure.

For daytime connections into Paris or out of Berlin, search live times on EuroRail Times — try Paris → London, Frankfurt → Paris or Berlin → Hamburg.

Interrail and Eurail

Global Pass holders can ride this train but must buy a berth reservation separately — the pass covers the rail fare only. Reservation supplements typically start around €11 for a seat and €25–35 for a couchette. Book the "reservation only" option at europeansleeper.eu. See our 10-day Interrail route guide for pass maths.

Paris–Berlin night train vs flying

Paris and Berlin are roughly 880 km apart. A flight takes 90 minutes in the air, but add 2–3 hours for airport transfers, security and check-in. The sleeper departs city-centre at dinner time and lands you in the other capital at breakfast — with a hotel night saved. On carbon footprint the train wins by a wide margin. Booking tip: Summer couchettes on Paris–Berlin sell out 4–8 weeks ahead. Set a calendar reminder for when your date opens — and consider mid-week departures (Tuesday/Wednesday) for lower fares.
